Photo gifts made using personalized photo paper napkin decoupage

Transfer your photo to a paper napkin and decoupage it to a product like a pot, plate or candle to create unique and individual photo gift. All you need is a laser printer a plain white single layered paper napkin, printer paper, painter's tape, paint brushes, Mod Podge and your desired gift item. This technique can be applied to a number of surfaces including, clay pots, T shirts, bags, candles, stones, wood, ceramic, glass and terracotta. Your creations can be as diverse as the range of paper napkins on the market.

Quick and Easy
This technique is a quick and easy way of transforming a number of everyday objects into decorative and unique works of art. If you cannot print your own napkins you can use one of the many decorative paper napkins on the market. If you do have a laser printer you can print your favorite photo or design onto your napkin to create a really unique paper napkin decoupaged photo gift.

Laser Printer – YES, Ink Jet Printer - NO!
In order to print your own napkins you need a laser printer that allows you to do this. Ink jet printers are not suitable for this project. Due to the absorbent nature of the napkins the image would no longer be definable!

Transferring your Photo to a Napkin: Step by Step

  • First, edit and crop your photo according to how you want the end result to appear.
  • Either use a single layered napkin or peel off the top layer of your plain white napkin and fix the edges to a letter sized sheet of printer paper using painter's tape. Make sure that the napkin is not overlapping as this could cause a paper jam in your laser printer.
  • Lay a sheet of baking paper over the top and iron out any folds as these will impare the final result.
  • Using the highest printing quality possible on your laser printer print your photo onto your napkin.
  • Peel off the printed napkin and apply to your desired object using Mod Podge.
